Our Team

Hello everyone my name is Dr. Allen A. Dubolino, and I am truly honored to be a part of the creation of Tokyo International Kindercare. I am originally from the United States and am an educational leader with over 10 years of experience in the US and abroad. I’ve spent the past several years as the head of both a Singaporean international school, and an American international school. It is with great joy and excitement that I accept my third headship as director of TIK. I am committed to helping TIK actualize its dream of bringing world-class international education to families in Japan. I believe in developing cooperative learning strategies in both teachers and students, so that student leaders can be empowered to take control of their own learning, lives, and community. I believe that by empowering students we give them the freedom to maximize their learning potential, and the power to set their own path in life, rather than just following the paths of those that came before them. I understand that children’s education must be fostered through an intimate and open connection between home and school. Parents and educators must work hand in hand to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment in which children can flourish. My ultimate goal at TIK is to create a warm family-like environment that is entrenched in moral and social values. Quite simply, we want TIK to be a place where families want to be. A place where, side-by-side, hand in hand, we can all learn and grow together as a family. Welcome to TIK!

As a mother of 3 beautiful boys I know how complicated and challenging it is choosing a school for your kids. After living 7 years overseas with my husband, and having the privilege of sending my kids to the best International Schools available, I was very concerned when my husband decided to return to Japan. Could we find a new school that would meet the needs of our family in Tokyo? When my family returned to Tokyo I was surprised with the fact that there were not many international schools available in Tokyo. The lack of available schools made it difficult for me to find a proper placement for my sons, and after consulting with my friends in Tokyo I realized that many of their families experienced the same issues. It was with this in mind that we decided to found TIK, a place in which “State of the Art” Education is affordable and accessible to both Japanese and International Families in Tokyo. A school in which international and Japanese values are taught to all of our students. Our School aims to provide a place in which your children can develop both their artistic and academic sides with special emphasis given to Music and the Arts. This creates a unique and fun environment that promotes creativity and spiritual wellness from an early age, with a positive, creative, and responsible approach to life. Welcome to the TIK family!

Hello, My name is Mai Hayashi. I am the office manager here at TIK. My main job is to manage phone calls, emails and do other necessary paper works. I grew up in Japan and spent most of my life living in Hokkaido. I grew up in a very small town where I did not have a chance to meet people from overseas. After entering junior high school, it was the first time in my life where I had the opportunity to meet ” English ” My school had a exchange program in the States and every year, senior students used to go overseas for the exchange program. I was so interested in that program that when I became a senior, I applied for that program and got a chance to go overseas for the first time in my life. Though it was such a short experience, that experience changed my life in a major way. Since then, I’ve been studying English for a long time. I have spent several years living abroad in Canada, which has enriched my life is so many ways. I enjoy learning new things everyday, meet new people from different countries, backgrounds, cultures and so on. Not only that, I’ve also learned so many new things from my experiences that it also helped me to look at my own country and culture with a new perspective. Upon returning to Japan after several years overseas, I thought it would be very nice if I could put these new experiences to a good use by working with children in International Schools to help provide them with the same type of life-chaning experiences that I had myself. So here I am at TIK working as an office staff. I am happy to work with great teachers from different countries and also our wonderful students. We are all different. That makes us special and our life richer! We are hoping to meet many new friends and families here at TIK and hope they will have a great experience with us and grow up to be the future leaders of tomorrow. Welcome to TIK!

Hello everyone, my name is Ms. Hitoko. I am a fully licensed early childhood educator with specializations in both Reggio Emilio and TESOL. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this special opportunity to be part of the TIK Family! Growing up my family welcomed a lot of international students to our home, so spending time with people from many different cultures is something that has always made me happy. This early love for various cultures inspired me to start my career in Early Childhood Education overseas. Throughout the past few years I have worked in the Philippines, New Zealand, and Canada. Now I would like to bring the skills that I have gained overseas back to my home country of Japan. I am incredibly excited to get started at TIK and promise to invest all of my efforts and passion into the development and growth of all children at TIK!

Hello everyone! My name is Ms. Kathy and I am from the United States. I’m ecstatic to be part of the TIK family! Teaching has long been a great passion of mine. I began my journey as a teacher when I was still a university student. I found a lot of enjoyment helping to tutor students in English and Math. This positive experience inspired me to want to make education my long-term career. Thus, after graduating from university I decided to move to Japan to join the international school system. Here in Japan I have had a lot of great teaching experiences, but I have found that being a preschool teacher to the most valuable. In early childhood education we have the opportunity each day to develop children and help them to discover who they are. I am thankful to be a part of the TIK community where I can continue to learn and grown as a teacher and person.

Hello everyone, my name is Emmie and I am originally from London, England. I graduated from the University of Northampton with a Bachelor of Arts degree and possess a teaching certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. As a child, I grew up in a home of educators. My mother is a kindergarten teacher and I spent a lot of time volunteering as an assistant in her classes over the years. It is through this experience that I quickly realized how rewarding it is to work with young children. Then after graduating university I decided to pursue a career in education full-time and I was lucky enough to find a home here in Japan, a country I had long admire for its rich culture and commitment to innovation. The early-years of a child’s education are the most vital years in their life and set the foundations for their social, emotional, physical, and academic futures. Children are fearless, open-minded, and absorb new information effortlessly. This makes early childhood education a unique once in a lifetime opportunity that must be taken full advantage of. I find working with children incredibly rewarding and being able to watch them as they grow and make their way up through school is extremely fulfilling. I am so excited to be part of the TIK family and I am truly looking forward to watching the development of all TIK children as we grow and learn together!

Hello! My name is Ms. Raine. After completing my university studies I immediately moved to Japan and had an opportunity to begin my teaching career working with special needs students. It was through this work that I discovered the immense rewards of working in the education field. In the Philippines, we have a concept called “bayanihan”. Bayanihan is a concept of helping and sharing what you have to other people. One branch of bayanihan is knowledge sharing. From a young age, this culture has been instilled in me by my parents. They were my first teachers and they taught me how to be compassionate towards other people. Now as an adult and teacher I also would like to teach the children of TIK how to be compassionate to the people around them. I want to share with the children that school is so much greater that just learning, it’s about passion special things inside our hearts to all those around us. I want to make a difference in children’s lives and to help them realize what their potential is. I am very happy that TIK has provided me a platform where I can share both my knowledge and culture. I am looking forward to supporting all of your children.

Hello everyone, my name is Ms. Shiori and I am very excited to be back at TIK! While I was pursuing an undergraduate degree in Child Development at Michigan State, I completed my internship at TIK. This experience gave me a whole new perspective of international education. This inspired me to rejoin TIK as a full-time staff member after graduation, so I am extremely happy to be back. Teaching, promoting child development, and learning have always been my life’s passions. As a child I spent much of my life living overseas and attending international schools. This experience helped me to embrace a career in international education, and since that time I have taken every opportunity to broaden my horizons in this field. I’ve spent years completing field experiences with young children, and have completed various research projects, with English language learners, children with disabilities, parent/sibling relationships, and much more. Through my experience and research, I have found that all children need support to learn and grow and have unique styles, preferences, and pace. As a teacher, I want to create a safe and stimulating environment that encourages and supports student initiatives so that they can successfully grow and develop a foundation for global success. It is my great pleasure to once again be a part of the TIK Family!

Hello everyone! My name is Mr. Jonathan, and I am extremely excited to be part of the TIK family! I grew up in San Francisco, then moved to Shanghai where I attended an international high school. Afterwards I moved back to the US, where I earned my bachelors degree. My mother was an elementary school principal, so I grew up in an environment where education was always viewed as the top priority. She taught me that education is the key for developing the self-confidence and natural abilities a child will need to eventually become an integral part of society as an adult. I believe that by fostering a safe and encouraging environment, children can be free to discover their own unique talents and strengths. The way young learners view the world, and question everything around them, is simply amazing to me. I often find that I learn just as much from them as they do from me! My goal with TIK is to provide students with the skills and confidence they need to be the best they can be, whether it be in school, at home, in the present, or in the future. I’m greatly looking forward to helping the TIK family of children, parents, and teachers blossom and be the best we can be!

Hello, My name is Ms. Yo. Thank you for welcoming me into Tokyo International Kindercare. Yo in Japanese means Leaf (葉) so I really love growing and taking care of living things. I was born in Hokkaido Japan (yes, where there are indeed lots of leaves and trees) and when I was 6 years old, my family moved to the lush country side of Wisconsin in the United States. Then when I was 12 years old, my family moved to Singapore, where I have spent 17 years in a very multicultural city environment. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Australia and a Grade 1 in EIKEN Test in Practical English Proficiency and my strong passion has always been to be somebody who could listen and understand the little voices of small children. Anybody growing up in this confusing globalized world already has a set of great challenges and I thought it would be nice for me to become like a “translator” to connect and ease the transition of the whimsical world of children to the grownup world, where children must all tread one day. I also enjoy painting and writing children’s books. I want to share all the fun with everyone in TIK! Every day here is such a wonderful adventure!
